40X Now Available!
This stunning Remington 40X in 6.5 Creedmoor marries form and function to capture the essence of the sporting rifle, the pinnacle of the American gunmaker’s art. It was conceived and executed by Master Engraver/Stockmaker Jesse Kaufman, formerly of Dakota Arms, currently designing and crafting custom firearms at his own shop.
Kaufman’s one-of-a-kind opus is beautifully balanced, responsive, and functional with lines to match and extensive, stunning scroll engraving to embellish. Its quarter-sawn, XXX Claro walnut stock is complimented by 22-lines per inch checkering in a flowing pattern that echoes the form of the stock while enhancing the grain structure. The gleaming, hand-rubbed oil finish was applied slowly and meticulously over a two week period.
Kaufman fitted the Remington 40X action with a 26-inch, medium weight, American-made K&P stainless steel barrel with 1:8 twist rifling and a muzzle threaded with pitch 5/8-24 for a suppressor. Long Rifle, Inc. blueprinted the action, lapping the locking lugs, and polishing the raceways. They pinned an oversized, .313 recoil lug to the action and fitted the true 40X stainless steel bolt with an AR-15-style extractor before jeweling it in a snakeskin pattern. The firing pin is activated by an adjustable Jewel trigger.
Kaufman painstakingly pillar bedded the finished stock to his barreled action, but not until he’d perfected his steel canvas with his own pattern of deep relief engraving of receiver rings, tang, bolt shroud, top recoil lug, barrel breech, trigger bow, and floorplate. A mule deer buck sneaks through the leaves on the floorplate and an engraved banner flag waves 6.5 Creedmoor atop the barrel, a much classier chamber ID than the typical roll stamp.
The unusual contrast in Kaufman’s engraving results from his museum quality shading accomplished by his own hot blueing selectively removed via tiny brushes and a mild acid, revealing the quiet French Gray luster beneath. A special inking and Renaissance wax finish completed the work.
At the range this rifle proved perfect for feed, function and stellar, 1/2 MOA accuracy. This one-of-a-kind modern masterpiece reflects the passion, care, love and impeccable quality standards of Master gunbuilder Jesse Kaufman. Please call or email for payment information.

This Winchester Pre-64 Model 70 in a 30-06 is stocked, finished, hand-checkered, and hand-engraved by myself. I purchased this barreled action from a dealer in Wisconsin. It is an original barreled action with after market one piece floor metal. It is fitted with two steel cross bolts capped with ebony plugs, a pillar bedded stock, ebony forend tip, Pachmayr Decelerator pad, and a two screw engraved, color cased grip cap with color cased Ken Howell sling swivels. The receiver is full coverage, deep relief engraving in American scroll. The floor metal has gold wire inlay with a mule deer game scene and deep relief American scroll with full coverage. The receiver and floor metal have been Carbona blued with a rust blued barrel and color cased Talley bases and bolt shroud. The bolt is checkered with a three panel design. The grip cap is also engraved in deep relief American scroll and color cased. The extractor and all engraved screws have been Nitre blued. The wood is a piece of English walnut with a unique visible graft line of Bastogne starting at mid-receiver running through the butt of the stock. The stock is of classic style that I carved with a pancake cheek piece and shadow line. The finish is an in-the-wood, hand rubbed, Waterlox oil finish used by the top custom gun makers in America. I have checkered it in a standard point pattern, 24 lines per inch, with a full forend wrap around and two panels on the grip. I learned my trade of stock making, perfecting the wood to metal fit at Dakota Arms with 1,632 rifles stocked in eleven years and I have checkered many more stocks over the last 20 years. Just over three years ago, I took up the art of engraving studying with Master Engravers Ray Cover in the USA and Hendrik Frȕhauf in Germany. As the author of this piece, I am very pleased to present this rifle representing my hand crafted abilities and many years of effort. Please call or email for payment information.
